Bio from Getty ULAN: Born 14 July 1934. From 1953 to 1955, Friedlander studied photography with Edward Kaminski at the Art Center School, Los Angeles, California. Friedlander has been a freelance photographer since 1955. In 1979-1980, Friedlander was commissioned by the Akron Art Museum to document the industrial area of the Ohio River Valley in Ohio and Pennsylvania. A major retrospective of his work was held at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, 2005. American photographer.
