Bio from Getty ULAN: Sculptor known for his colorful, abstract metal sculptures. Lassaw disavowed representational art in the 1930s and became part of what would be called "The New York School" with his friends with Jackson Pollack and Willem de Kooning. In 1951, he had his first solo exhibition at the Samuel Kootz Gallery in Manhattan. His work can be found in the collections of such museums as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
